Casting requires melting iron into liquid form before it can be poured into molds. Cast iron melts at roughly 1,150 to 1,200 °C, so keeping it liquid means holding an extremely high temperature. Molten iron temperature is the critical monitoring point on a foundry line — too hot or too cold and product quality suffers. An infrared temperature sensor watches the molten iron to keep it stable, raising an instant alarm whenever the temperature drifts out of range.
